RSPCA inspectors in Rhonda, Wales are appealing for information about a grey lurcher bitch found shot dead in woods yesterday.

The BBC reports that: “The grey lurcher bitch was found in woodland behind Catherine Street, Pentre, Rhondda, on Monday.

Early veterinary reports suggested the dog, which had a deep wound to its right ear and blood in its mouth, had been shot at close range.

The RSPCA, which is appealing for information, believed the dog may have been led to the scene because string had been attached to its collar.

RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “Initial veterinary reports suggest that the dog was shot at close range but we are still trying to establish the type of firearm used.”
