The Irish newspaper Independant IE also published news yesterday on the Irish Greyhound Board’s decision to control distribution of their race footage.

Part of their article reads:

“The Board decision was widely anticipated since their own website, http://www.igb.ie, started showing the videos recently. It became even more certain after the Budget.

The IGB’s Head of Tote Patricia Griffin said: “As with any sports event, a significant part of future income streams will reside in the value attributed to picture rights. We are trialling betting on our racing with a number of overseas partners and control of the picture content is an important part of maintaining control of the betting product.””
