United States action group The Commitee to Protect Dogs has been tirelessly campainging to end greyhound racing in Massachusetts for many years and are now trying to get a ballot passed into law for stronger protection of greyhounds within the industry.

They have collated evidence of over 300 serious and fatal collisions at race tracks in the state and have footage from trianers kennels showing that greyhounds are kept in confined conditions for at least 20 hours per day.

The group explain that “The Committee to Protect Dogs is a state ballot question committee dedicated to passing stronger dog protection laws in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We are a grassroots organization comprised of more than 3,000 volunteers statewide.

We are supported by the oldest and most respected animal protection organizations in the state, including the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Animal Rescue League of Boston, The Humane Society of the United States and greyhound protection group GREY2K USA.”
